Niki Mahajan New Couture Collection - Begum Hazrat Mahal.

Niki Mahajan is an India based fashion designer for a few centuries now though I am not much of fan of hers yet her latest collection "An ode to Begum Hazrat Mahal" has stolen my heart and Yes, I am starting to fall in love with Niki Mahajan's Work.

As per history books "Begum Hazrat Mahal" was a courtesan who became the Queen of Awadh in U.P. and was very courageous. "She stood up against the East India Company in 1857 after her husband betrayed her and ran away leaving her behind and his many wives and children.

She was very much a rebellion and warrior like and did not succumb to her circumstances and stood up herself and her empire!

It was the beauty of her courage that inspired Niki Mahajan to honour her with a her new collection designed and based on her painting's and literature available about her. The colours also were chosen
accordingly as they were in vogue very much in that era as well.

Niki Mahajan has come back with a collection after a gap of nine years after an extensive research on Begum Hazrat Mahal. She was able to locate local craftsmen in Lucknow U.P. and these artisans are very much talented in the crafts known as "Badla Embroidery" of Lucknow.

"A dying art - Badla is a laborious and hand intensive which requires skilled craftsmen" without these talented artisans this collection would not have been possible and not only that she has been able to rehabilitate 70 families of Lucknow. Wow, now I am fan of Niki Mahajan.

Niki Mahajan has stores worldwide and she had a show on September 14th, 2013 in New Delhi recently showcasing her new couture collection..

I am in love with Niki Mahajan!!

Design Your Own Visiting Cards.

A visiting card, also known as a calling card, is a small paper card with one's name printed on it, and often bearing an artistic design. In 18th century Europe the footmen of aristocrats and royalty would deliver these first European visiting cards to the servants of their prospective hosts solemnly introducing the arrival of their owners.

Visiting cards became an indispensable tool of etiquette, with sophisticated rules governing their use. The essential convention was that one person would not expect to see another person in her own home (unless invited or introduced) without first leaving his visiting card for the person at her home. Upon leaving the card, he would not expect to be admitted at first, but might receive a card at his own home in response. This would serve as a signal that a personal visit and meeting at home would not be unwelcome. On the other hand, if no card were forthcoming, or if a card were sent in an envelope, a personal visit was thereby discouraged. As an adoption from French and English etiquette, visiting cards became common amongst the aristocracy of Europe, and also in the United States. The whole procedure depended upon there being servants to open the door and receive the cards and it was, therefore, confined to the social classes which employed servants.
If a card was left with a turned corner it indicated that the card had been left in person rather than by a servant.

In today's time it may not used for the same purpose however it is very important if you having your business or representing a company.

I recently created few visiting card designs with the help of CorelX5. CorelDraw is an indispensable tool in today time if wish to become a successful fashion or graphic designer. Here are a few samples with various backgrounds. You can also use Adobe Illustrator to create these designs.

The Final Design

These are the Final design of the visiting cards that I created once these cards are created with the help of CorelDraw you can take a print out on photo paper at your own home.

CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator are an indispensable tool in today's time if wish to become a successful fashion or graphic designer.
