Victorian era Fashion 1837 - 1901
|Queen Victoria on her Wedding Day.|
The Victorian era started when Princess Victoria of England became Queen Victoria in 1837, and ended with her death in 1901. Queen Victoria was a fashion leader herself. When her husband Prince Albert died in 1861, Queen Victoria wore black for the rest of her days. Given that she only wore black, she still set trends with her jewellery and other clothes she wore. Queen Victoria made white wedding dresses fashionable by being the first royal bride to wear white for her wedding.
Victorian fashion comprises the various fashions and trends in British culture that emerged and grew in province throughout the Victorian era and the reign of Queen Victoria, a period which would last from June 1837 to January 1901. Covering nearly two thirds of the 19th century, the 63-year reign would see numerous changes in fashion. These changes would include, but not be limited to, changes in clothing, architecture, literature, and the decorative and visual arts.
In the 1840s and 1850s, women's gowns developed wide puffed sleeves. Dresses were simple and pale. Realistic flower trimming were on dresses. Petticoats, corsets, chemises were worn under gowns. By the 1850s the number of petticoats was reduced and the crinoline was worn; as such the size of the skirts expanded. Day dresses had a solid bodice and evening gowns had a very low neckline and were worn off the shoulder with shawls.
|Modern Victorian Era.|
Whenever I think about the Victorian era, I think about "Quinceañera Gowns"; I don't understand Why I am so magically attracted towards that era?; Has it got something to do with my past life or it's just that I feel that it was the era of Elegance and Beauty!!.. An era of "Real Beauty and Innocence".
An era where people were Innocent, and did not lie..... Honesty and Honour was the prime duty of every individual. Women, Men and Children used to listen to beautiful unplugged music of piano and violins not the Rouchy music of nowadays.... Music in those days was made to relax and calm one's mind...
The clothes in those era were a true piece of art!!!....An era in which art was a part of every body's life....
Here some Quinceanera Gowns that I have created with the help of Reach Fashio Studio... I hope these creations do justice to designs.... :)
